The South Sydney Rabbitohs have started the 2024 NRL season without a win and are currently sitting on the bottom of the NRL ladder.
For a squad that boasts names such as Latrell Mitchell, Cody Walker, Damien Cook, Cameron Murray, Jai Arrow and Jack Wighton, serious questions need to be levelled at the coaching staff of the Rabbitohs.
How can the Rabbitohs’ performance in Round 3 have been so diabolical?
According to Jason Demetriou in his press conference on Friday night, he knows where to find the answer and he knows it’s his job to fix it.
Unfortunately for Jason Demetriou, his footy team is currently playing with disinterest and disengagement – a fact that is absolutely mind boggling when you consider the talent available in the Rabbitohs’ roster.
Demetriou has had the opportunity to fix the issues that have afflicted the Rabbitohs since Round 12, 2023 and has thus far failed to effect tangible change.
Demetriou has had an entire off-season – yet the issues that plagued the Rabbitohs at the back end of 2023 remain.
From an outsiders perspective, it sure looks like Demetriou doesn’t have the answers, and very soon, it won’t be his job to fix it.
Simply put, it appears Demetriou is way out of his depth.
In the absence of a miracle turnaround, there’s no other way to put it. Demetriou’s days are numbered.
Strap in South Sydney fans, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.
