Jack Wighton is on the verge of reneging on his recent contract to join the South Sydney Rabbitohs and is set to remain in the nation’s capital.
League Initiative can reveal that sources close to Wighton have confirmed that he is considering his legal options in order to remain with the Canberra Raiders.
Earlier this year, Wighton stated he intended to leave the Canberra Raiders in order to fight for premierships in the twilight of his career. Ultimately, Wighton decided to join the South Sydney Rabbitohs to join up with his friend Latrell Mitchell.
Unfortunately, for the South Sydney Rabbitohs, Wighton is said to be re-evaluating his decision given the lacklustre performances of the Rabbitohs in the second half of this season.
It is unknown whether Wighton will be able to exercise a get-out from his contract with the Rabbitohs, however, this is certainly a worrying sign for the Redfern based club.
He should back out because the South Sydney team is the biggest chokers of the 21st century. He is silly to sign for less in the hope of winning a comp with a team never in contention
If only this was true. Jacky had made the biggest mistake of his career signing with South’s. We can only hope he does stay with the Raiders.
