Martin, who is suffering from a category-one head knock, is out of contact training until captain’s run on Tuesday. Similarly, Murray and Mitchell are recovering from groin and calf injuries, respectively.
While all three were named in the team, coach Brad Fittler acknowledges the risks. Murray and Mitchell were approved by club medical staff to join the camp, but they aren’t expected to train with the Blues until Sunday.
Murray remains positive about his recovery, and he says he’s been focusing on his rehab and being diligent with his preparation. Mitchell missed out on the Blues’ whole squad media day for their intended game in Coogee, spending the time with club physiotherapists instead.
While Tedesco believes all three players are in good shape, Fittler acknowledges that they’d need to clear certain hitches before being named in the team.
While Martin has not shown any concussion symptoms, he isn’t allowed to participate in contact sports until Tuesday. In the meantime, he looks for the positives and rests up instead.
