Anderson, who is currently at the Royal Rehabilitation Centre in Ryde, thanked the rugby league community for their help via a video link. Rugby League Central hosted Andrew Abdo, Nathan Hindmarsh, Mark Coyne, Trent Robinson and Ivan Cleary to announce the initiatives that will assist in Anderson’s recovery. Round 25 will be dedicated to Anderson, with fans encouraged to donate while a lunch will also be held on July 7.
Anderson expressed his gratitude for the support and wishes to return to work soon so he can be back in the community.
Robinson, the Roosters‘ coach, who was coached by Anderson and also taught by him at high school, stated that Anderson needs their help, explaining that “he’s delivered a lot to rugby league over many generations.”
Hindmarsh, who built a special bond with Anderson when he took the Eels to the 2009 Grand Final, states that “raising as much money as we can is important” because “so much has changed in his life for him, his wife and his kids.”
