Nathan Cleary and the NSW Blues have been dealt a devastating blow with the Penrith Panthers halfback going down with a hamstring injury early in the Panthers clash against the St George Illawarra Dragons.
Cleary was in immediate discomfort as he realised the injury had occurred.
While the severity of the injury will be confirmed with scans, it is likely Cleary will be in serious doubt for Game 2 of the State of Origin series.
Brad Fittler’s plans will be in disarray if Cleary is unable to play and Fittler will be working overtime to find a solution to the crisis. Nicho Hynes, Mitchell Moses and Adam Reynolds would all be considered for the role.
At halftime of the Panthers and Dragons clash, the Dragons are currently leading 12-6.
