Despite a successful rugby sevens career, including a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics, Warbrick played reserve grade with Sunshine Coast Falcons last year.
However, he has taken his chance this season with six tries in 11 games, and his yardage out of trouble has been essential for a Storm side that has struggled in that area in the past. Warbrick is thrilled to extend his contract, stating that Storm is his home now.
Ponissi states that Warbrick had to “get back to basics” when he arrived, but having senior players around helped his progression. Ponissi had always known the transition from rugby would take time, and Warbrick is now reaping the rewards of the hard work from the last season and a half.
The Falcons helped in Warbrick’s development in the Storm‘s system, and Ponissi sees exciting prospects for the future.
